Mortal Kombat Gold

Released exclusively for the Dreamcast as a launch title, Mortal Kombat Gold served as an update to 1997’s Mortal Kombat 4.

Like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 had done before, Mortal Kombat Gold added a number of new arenas (Church, Netherealm and Soul Chamber), as well as a handful of additional kombatants (Baraka, Cyrax, Kitana, Mileena, Kung Lao and Sektor). An additional kombatant by the name of Belokk was planned for the game, but never saw the light of day due to time constraints.

Thousands of years ago in a battle with the fallen Elder God known as Shinnok, I was responsible for the death of an entire civilisation.

To rid all realms of Shinnok’s menace I waged a war that plunged the Earth into centuries of darkness and banished Shinnok to a place called the Netherealm.

Now after Shao Kahn’s defeat at the hands of the Earth warriors, Shinnok has managed to escape his confines of the Netherealm.

The war is now being fought once again. Only this time it can be won by mortals.

Raiden

• Cheat Menu
  On the Title Screen, press , , , , , , , . If entered correctly you will hear a laugh and the word “Outstanding” will be spoken. Now, highlight Arcade at the main menu and press BL RN to make a Cheat menu appear.

• Play as Goro
  Enable the Cheat menu, then choose Hidden on the Character Select screen. Hold the L R triggers, then press , , A to select Goro.

• Play as Noob Saibot
  Enable the Cheat menu, then choose Hidden on the Character Select screen. Hold the L R triggers, then press , , , , , , A to select Noob Saibot.

• Play as Sektor
  Enable the Cheat menu, then choose Hidden on the Character Select screen. Hold the L R triggers, then press , , , , , , , , A to select Sektor.

• Play as Meat
  Continue to select the Group option on the Character Select screen. After playing through and winning battles with all 20 characters, select any character. They will retain their moves, but carry the physique of Meat.

• Character Biographies
  To view a character’s biography, enter the Options menu then select Kombat Theater. Highlight the character whose biography you wish to view and press the R trigger.

• Alternate Costumes/Weapons
  On the Character Select screen, highlight a character and hold the Start button. Now, press a punch or kick button to make their portrait rotate. Each rotation gives you access to a new weapon or costume depending on the character and number of spins.

• Alternate Arcade Mode Opponents
  On the Choose Your Destiny screen, highlight a tower then press the Start button. The tower will rotate, giving you a different configuration of fighters to contest.

Enter these Kombat Kodes on the VS. screen by using the following buttons:
