Konquest Part 5: Outworld

Following your entry into Outworld, Damashi will appear and tell Shujinko a little about the history of Outworld.

He informs Shujinko that Outworld was once unified under the rule of Onaga, the Dragon King. Shao Kahn was Outworld’s advisor, but his greed consumed him and eventually his deception earned him title of emperor when he stole Outworld for himself.

Ever since, Outworld has been a place associated with evil and danger. Damashi warns Shujinko to be wary on his travels and to keep his eyes open.

Opponent: Kobra

Once Damashi appears, head southwest along the bridge toward A-4. Here you will find Kobra who wishes to fight you to the death.

Scenario:

Defeat Kobra three times. When you successfully defeat him in three rounds, you will receive 300 random koins.

After defeating Kobra, face northwest and enter the cave at A-3. You will find that a portion of it is blocked by some large rocks. In front of these large rocks between 7pm and 12am you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin DI (unlocks Tanya). Once you have obtained the krypt key, make note of this ice cave as you will be returning to this location at a later date.

Find Reptile and inform him that he is to return with Shao Kahn’s tribute

Exit the cave, then head south until you notice an area occupied by many guards to your left in A-6. Search through those populating this area to find Shao Kahn. Upon speaking with him, he instructs you to find Reptile and order him to return his tribute. For this he will spare your life.

Solution:

You will need to travel to the Living Forest in order to complete this side mission. Head east across the bridge, then head northeast. You will find Reptile walking around the forest on the northeastern side in E-4. He informs you that he has lost Shao Kahn’s tribute somewhere in this forest, and that he will return immediately to beg for mercy. He then runs off, leaving you with no reward.

Find Reiko and tell him that he is not to enter Shao Kahn’s chamber

Return to Shao Kahn in A-6/B-6. He tells you that Reptile did not return to him, so your debt is only partially repaid. He then tells you that Reiko, formerly his most trusted general, has been entering his private chamber and wearing his helmet. He asks you to find Reiko and tell him not to enter his chamber again or face death.

Solution:

You cannot complete this mission until you progress later in the game. The solution for this side mission will be covered later on in this playguide.

Find Braan and tell him that Gohsk wants to fight him

Also in this area you will find a short man carrying a sword. He tells you that a man by the name of Braan has offended him for the last time, and to tell him that he wishes to fight him to the death.

Solution:

Travel to a small coastal village to the southeast in E-8 where you will find a man walking around wearing a bamboo peasant hat, carrying a spear with a fish impaled on it. Braan is surprised to hear of your news. He pays you 500  koins and says you that you never saw him.

Locate and return the Shokan ceremonial dagger to Rain

Now, head a short distance west to C-8 where you will find Rain. He tells you that the Shokan warrior Goro has lost his ceremonial dagger somewhere in this area. If you find it for him, he will buy it from you.

Solution:

From Rain’s location, head northeast. Once you reach the Living Forest head north toward E-1 where you will find Goro’s dagger. Return the dagger to Rain, who will buy it from you for 500  koins.

If you are in need of koins, travel west to A-8 where you will find Sonya between 6pm and 7pm. Speak with her to receive 800 koins.

Opponent: Sub-Zero

Return to Rain’s position in the east, then head north a short distance to D-7 where you will find Sub-Zero. Confront him to test his Lin Kuei armour in battle.

Scenario:

Defeat Sub-Zero while you only do 25% of your normal damage. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 350 random koins.

Opponent: Hotaru

After your battle with Sub-Zero, head north toward C-5. Here you will find Hotaru walking close to two standalone trees. He wishes to defeat you in the name of the Dragon King.

Scenario:

Defeat Hotaru in two rounds. Only throws will do damage. When you successfully defeat him, you will receive 300 random koins.

Opponent: Kira

From Hotaru, head south-southeast toward E-7/F-7. Here you will find Kira walking between a mountain and the sea alongside a small village. Prove to her in battle that you are worthy of the Black Dragon clan.

Scenario:

Defeat Kira before you bleed to death. When you successfully defeat her in one round, you will receive 300 random koins.

Head south to F-8 and enter the hut close to the sea. Inside you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin TB (unlocks Darrius’ Alt Costume).

Find the fabled Outworld ice caves and tell Frost of their location

Travel northeast around the lake until you find Frost near a hut in H-6. She asks you to find the location of the fabled Outworld ice caves, and to inform her of their location.

Solution:

Return to the ice caves you visited earlier in A-3. As you approach the entrance, Shujinko will tell himself that these seem to be the caves Frost is searching for and that he should return to inform her of its location. Return the Ice Caves Map to Frost to receive 400  koins.

After returning the map to Frost, enter the hut nearby in H-6. Inside you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin MH (unlocks Sindel’s Alt Costume).

Relay Smoke’s message to Sub-Zero in Earthrealm

Exit the hut, then head south a short distance to H-7 where you will find the opening to a cave. Inside you will find Smoke, who recognises you as a member of the Lin Kuei. He asks you to relay a message from him to Sub-Zero in Earthrealm.

Solution:

You cannot complete this mission until you progress later in the game. The solution for this side mission will be covered later on in this playguide.

Opponent: Scorpion

Exit the cave and head north-northwest toward F-4. Here you will find Scorpion walking beside a waterfall spewing lava into a pit. Speak with the Shirai-Ryu spectre and end his vendetta against you.

Scenario:

Defeat Scorpion while he does double damage. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 350 random koins.

After defeating the Shirai-Ryu warrior, head north toward the green aura. As you make your way to the aura you will notice a heavy presence of Tarkata in this area. Speak to Mileena who is standing outside the gates of this city: Lei Chen. She makes clear her desire to seek her teeth into Shujinko, to which he says he does not want trouble but will defend himself if necessary. This leads to a training lesson with Mileena.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 25 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 50 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 75 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 100 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 125 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 150 random koins.

After your training mission with Mileena, she reveals to you the reason so many Tarkata occupy this area. She says that the overlord of this city is resisting Shao Kahn’s cause. Mileena asks Shujinko to be her messenger, and convince the overlord to sacrifice his life for his people.

Head east through the gate to the green aura. Here you will speak with Overlord Zeffeero. Shujinko warns him of the impending Tarkata threat, and the only way to save his people is to surrender his head. Overlord Zeffeero affirms his opposition to the idea by stating that he will not surrender himself to Shao Kahn, even for his people. Lei Chen’s militia will be useless against the growing Tarkatan forces, so Overlord Zeffeero offers an alternative solution. He tells Shujinko of a priceless artefact located in the Living Forest, and to use this artefact to convince Seido’s elite guardsmen to come to Lei Chen’s aid.

Before we retrieve this artefact from the Living Forest, we have some more side missions to take care of.

Opponent: Smoke

Once you have left the walls of Lei Chen, head west until you reach a torch on the edge of a cliff. Face south to find the cyborg Smoke in D-2. Speak with him to engage in kombat.

Scenario:

Defeat Smoke in dark kombat. During dark kombat the screen with fade between your normal view and complete darkness. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 300 random koins.

Find a potion to restore Blaze’s memory

Once Smoke has been defeated, travel southwest toward a mountain spewing lava in C-3/C-4 to find Blaze walking around. He tells you that his quest has come to a halt as he cannot remember what it was. He has had a spell put on him, causing him to lose his memory. He asks you to find a Memory Potion for him.

Solution:

You cannot complete this mission until you progress later in the game. The solution for this side mission will be covered later on in this playguide.

Opponent: Noob Saibot

From Blaze’s location, head north toward B-1. Here you will find the elusive Noob Saibot.

Scenario:

Defeat Noob Saibot in dark kombat. During dark kombat the screen will fade between your normal view and complete darkness. When you successfully defeat him in one round, you will receive 300 random koins.

Find the orb and return it to the woman

From Noob Saibot face east and approach the woman nearby in C-5. She tells you that she is not a native of Outworld, and that her realm has been fused with Outworld via an orb. She asks you to locate this orb for her.

Solution:

Travel south to C-4. Close to the Living Forest you will find a small area enclosed by rocks. Inside this area you will find a blue orb. Return the orb to the woman for a reward of 400  koins.

Opponent: Bo’ Rai Cho

After completing the previous side mission, head east to D-1 where you will find Bo’ Rai Cho pacing back and forth in front of a house. Speak with him to challenge him to a fight.

Scenario:

Defeat Bo’ Rai Cho in 30 seconds. When you successfully defeat him in one round, you will receive 300 random koins.

It is time to head toward the green aura. Head south toward the Living Forest where you will encounter Jade. After speaking with her, she reveals that she has secured the artefact you desire for her queen. To obtain the item, you must win against her in Mortal Kombat. After defeating Jade in two rounds, you will receive 450 random koins. Walk into the green aura in front of you to claim the Outworld Kamidogu.

Now, head northeast toward the green aura. As you leave the Living Forest Damashi will appear. He tells Shujinko that he cannot use the Kamidogu as a bargaining tool. Instead, Damashi tells Shujinko he should offer command of Lei Chen to the Seidan guardsmen, even though they were not the original terms. The Seidan guardsmen would have no interest in defending the city unless they occupy it. Damashi then reminds Shujinko to focus on his primary mission of securing the six Kamidogu.

Once Damashi disappears, head northwest toward the portal. Cross the bridge and enter the portal to return to the Nexus. Enter the green aura to place the Outworld Kamidogu on the altar, opening the portal to the next realm. Walk into the blue portal to enter Orderrealm.
