Konquest Part 2: Earthrealm

Once leaving the safety of the village, head west to A-6 where you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin SC (unlocks Kenshi’s Alt Costume).

Head east a short distance, where Shujinko will come face to face with Damashi once again.

Damashi explains to Shujinko a little about the items he is to recover: the Kamidogu. There is an impending doom that threatens the survival of all the realms. With these items, the Elder Gods will vanquish this menace. Shujinko then asks where he can find these Kamidogu. Damashi replies by telling Shujinko that they have been scattered throughout the realms. The Elder Gods are unable to retrieve them, so they have instead elected a champion to recover all six. Damashi then says that the Elder Gods have constructed portals and the Nexus to aid their champion on their quest, and he will show Shujinko what to do when he finds the first Kamidogu.

Once Damashi disappears, walk forward and Shujinko will examine a sign in front of him. He tells himself that he should head northeast toward Bo’ Rai Cho’s house. First we have a few things to take care of.

Find something to help guide this young woman back to her home

Circling the small forest in front of you at A-5/A-6/B-6 is a woman dressed in a white robe. She tells you that she has wandered far from her home and that she is lost. She asks you to find her something to help guide her back home.

Solution:

Head south to B-7 where you will find a few large rocks next to a single large tree. Under the tree you will find a Magnetic Ore that can be used as a compass. She will buy the lodestone off you for 50  koins.

If you’re using a GameCube, you will find a gold chest that will give you a key for koffin SH (unlocks Shao Kahn’s Alt Costume) in amongst the trees at B-5.

Head northeast along the path toward Bo’ Rai Cho’s house. If you’re using a GameCube, take notice of the tree stumps to your right in C-5. Against the wall nearby you will find a gold chest that will give you a key for koffin JS (unlocks Shao Kahn’s Alt Bio).

Follow the path until you reach Bo’ Rai Cho waiting outside his house. When you are ready, speak with him to begin your training lesson.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 25 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 50 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 75 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 100 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 150 random koins.

Shujinko will have trained with Bo’ Rai Cho for five years before you regain control of him again. As you can see, he has aged into a young adult. His training has enlightened him and given him the vital experience he needs to continue on his quest.

Upon finishing the training session, Bo’ Rai Cho asks Shujinko to help him find his lost Warrior’s Medallion. He asks you to check by the docks while he searches the house. Before we look for the medallion, we have a few things to take care of.

Head to the eastern side of Bo’ Rai Cho’s house. Behind it in amongst some trees at C-3 you will find a chest containing a key for koffin AS (unlocks Sub-Zero’s Alt Bio).

Scare the old man for his nephew’s entertainment

From Bo’ Rai Cho’s house, head west to the huts in B-4 where you will see a man standing outside the centre hut. Go over and speak with him. He tells you that his uncle scares easily, and if you scare him he will pay you.

Solution:

If you face north you will see an old man hunched over outside a nearby shack. Slowly sneak up behind the old man from behind the shack and speak with him. After startling him, return to the man who will pay you 400  koins.

Scare the old man again for his nephew’s entertainment

After receiving your reward, the man tells you he will gladly pay you double if you scare his uncle again.

Solution:

Just like last time, sneak up to the old man and speak to him. This time he will have a heart attack and fall to the ground. If you go back to the man he will call you a murderer and rewards you nothing.

Opponent: Kabal

Behind this boy’s hut in A-5 you will find Kabal between 10pm and 7am. Speak with the Black Dragon member to challenge him.

Scenario:

Defeat Kabal in 30 seconds. When you successfully defeat him in one round, you will receive 300 random koins.

Opponent: Sindel

Head northwest into the small forest behind the hut where you killed the boy’s uncle. At A-4 you will find Sindel, waiting to challenge you to Mortal Kombat.

Scenario:

Defeat Sindel while starting with 50% health and you are bleeding to death. When you successfully defeat her in one round, you will receive 400 random koins.

Travel to the hut closest to the path in B-5 where you will find the centaur Motaro between 10am and 11am. Approach him to receive 1000  koins.

Discover what is happening in the hut to the south

Head to C-6 and speak to the man wearing a bamboo peasant hat. He will tell you he has heard some strange noises that sound like kombat coming from a hut to the south, yet Bo’ Rai Cho is the only warrior in their community. He asks you to investigate for him.

Solution:

Enter the hut a short distance to the south. Inside you will find a member of the Shirai-Ryu. After being caught, the ninja disappears in a puff of smoke, leaving a note behind. Take the note back to the man. Shujinko tells the man about his encounter, and that there is mention of assassins lurking in Earthrealm in the note. The man fears for his life and runs off, leaving you with no reward.

Find the man’s lost promise ring

You will find a man wearing a beaded necklace walking up and down the bank of the river in C-5/D-5. If you speak with him, he says that he has lost the ring he was going to give to his beloved. He believes he lost it somewhere along the riverbank and asks you to help him find it.

Solution:

Travel northeast to F-3 where you will find a large number of tree stumps. In the northeastern corner you will find the missing ring. The man will give you the remainder of his money (500  koins) as a reward for returning it to him.

Opponent: Darrius

After delivering the promise ring to the man, travel to E-3 where you’ll find Darrius between 10pm and 7am. Speak with him to initiate a battle.

Scenario:

Defeat Darrius while you cannot block in two rounds. When you successfully defeat him, you will receive 350 random koins.

Travel to D-4 where you will find an old woman hunched over outside a hut. She reveals that for the last few nights she has heard the sounds of someone trying to break into her house. She cannot believe that there is a burglar in this peaceful community.

At around 9pm you will see a masked man come from behind some trees and sneak around the huts nearby. Punch him and steal his Lockpick Tools. These will allow you to open previously locked huts.

Gain membership in the White Lotus Society

Follow the path east until you reach a zig-zag bridge over the river. Cross it, then face southwest and approach the man standing outside the doorway of the temple in E-4. This is Master Shen. After speaking with him, he reveals to you information about the White Lotus Society and the history of Mortal Kombat between Earthrealm and Outworld. He then asks you to join the White Lotus to help protect Earthrealm, and to see Wen the Elder nearby. Travel back across the zig-zag bridge and speak to Wen, who is in front of the hut at D-4. He reveals the true extent of Earthrealm’s woes: ten consecutive losses to Outworld would mean Earthrealm would be lost, and Earthrealm has lost the previous nine. He tells you that the fate of Earthrealm lies in their next champion, so they must be careful in who they choose. He then tells you to return when you are certain that you have learnt enough.

Solution:

You cannot complete this mission until you progress later in the game. The solution for this side mission will be covered later on in this playguide.

After your conversation with Wen the Elder, head west and open the chest in D-3. It contains a key for koffin RT (unlocks Scorpion’s Alt Bio).

Find her father’s lost sword

Face southeast and cross the zig-zag bridge, then head south toward a small encampment in F-7. In front of one of the tents you will find a woman wearing a bamboo peasant hat. She tells you that she has lost her father’s sword, one of the last remaining memories she has of him. She begs that you find it for her.

Solution:

Head west toward D-7. You will find the Lost Sword in amongst some trees. Take it back to the woman and she will reward you with 500  koins.

Face west and check the side of the hut nearby in F-7. You will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin HL (unlocks Mileena’s Alt Costume) between 7pm and 9pm.

Opponent: Kira

Head northwest to E-6 where you will find Kira between 5pm and 4am. Accept her challenge to initiate a battle.

Scenario:

Defeat Kira before you bleed to death. When you successfully defeat her in one round, you will receive 350 random koins.

Deliver this mysterious package to his customer

Head southeast to G-7 where you will find an old man standing outside a tent. He asks you to deliver a package for him to a woman in the far southwest village.

Solution:

Travel west to A-6. Approach the woman in front of the white house to deliver the package. She hands you a pair of Earrings to give to Lo as payment. Return the Earrings to Lo to receive 400  koins.

Opponent: Jax

Head east around the grassy hill to G-6. You will find Jax standing in front of a large suspension bridge. You cannot cross the bridge until you have defeated him, so fight him in order to cross.

Scenario:

Defeat Jax in two rounds. Only throws will damage him. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 300 random koins.

Once you have defeated Jax, cross the suspension bridge. Between 3am and 7am in H-6 you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin BH (unlocks Liu Kang’s Tomb).

Head northwest toward the green aura in B-3. Once arriving on the beach, you will find an old man hunched over next to a house. After speaking to him, he will reveal that he has the Warrior’s Medallion locked up in his house, but some brigands stole his house key. They stray not far from here.

Head east along the sand to the green aura where you will find the three cowards. Approach the one in the middle and speak with him. He will reveal to you that he has in fact stolen the fisherman’s key and the only way you will get it back is if you can take it back. Punch the fool and take the key he drops.

While we’re on this side of the beach travel east to E-2 where you will find a video camera that will give you a key for koffin FN (unlocks Hua Chuan Video).

Travel west and enter the first hut on your left in C-3. Inside you will find a musical note that will give you a key for koffin MR (unlocks Dark Prison Music).

Return the House Key to the fisherman who will invite you inside. Enter his house to receive the Warrior’s Medallion.

After leaving the fisherman’s house, travel west to A-3 and open the gold chest next to the hut. Inside you will find a key for koffin GA (unlocks Baraka’s Alt Bio).

Now, leave the beach. On your way to Bo’ Rai Cho’s house Damashi will appear and instruct Shujinko not to return the Warrior’s Medallion to Bo’ Rai Cho. He tells Shujinko that he should hold onto the Warrior’s Medallion, as it will lead others to believe that he is a skilled warrior.

Head east toward the zig-zag bridge in E-4. After crossing it, head northeast toward G-2 where you will find an opening that lets you access the other side of the beach. Once you’re on the beach, head east toward two beach huts.

Opponent: Kobra

At around 7pm you will see Kobra emerge from one of the nearby huts. He will stand on the beach at H-2 and is available to fight until 7am.

Scenario:

Defeat Kobra before you bleed to death. When you successfully defeat him in one round, you will receive 350 random koins and a key for koffin IP (unlocks Kobra’s Alt Costume).

After defeating Kobra, enter the hut on the far end of the beach. Inside between 12pm and 6am you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin SH (unlocks Kira).

Seek out the purpose of the great stone circle that lies to the east

From the beach head southwest to the temple in F-3. Outside the front doors you will find a member of the United Nations task force, interested in the strange stone formation to the east. He asks you to relay any information you may collect about the formation to him.

Solution:

You cannot complete this mission until you progress later in the game. The solution for this side mission will be covered later on in this playguide.

Now, head south toward G-8 where you will find the Lin Kuei Temple. Speak to the guard outside the doors. He stops you, saying that only true warriors may enter the Lin Kuei Temple. Shujinko lies and says that Bo’ Rai Cho has given him the Warrior’s Medallion as proof of his skill in kombat, instantly earning the respect of the guard. He lets you inside to train with none other than Sub-Zero himself.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 25 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 50 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 75 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 100 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 125 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 150 random koins.

You are now a member of the Lin Kuei. The guard tells you to meet the others to the west, as there is an item there of great importance that they could use. Your password will be ‘ice dragon’. Before we do that, we have a few more things to take care of.

Find and defeat the Shirai-Ryu to prove your loyalty

Speak to the man dressed in a red robe nearby in G-8. He says that although you have earned your respect with some of the Lin Kuei, the only way for Shujinko to prove his loyalty to the rest is by ridding the countryside of their rival clan: the Shirai-Ryu.

Solution:

Head west to a small community in E-8. Outside the centre hut you will find a woman who claims that she is a follower of Raiden. The Shirai-Ryu message you found earlier said that members of the Shirai-Ryu would pose as worshippers of Raiden. Shujinko is quick to dismiss the woman’s lies. You will then be presented with a fighting challenge, in which you must defeat Scorpion with only 33% of your health. If you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 300 random koins. The woman runs away, dropping a Shirai-Ryu Mask. Take the mask back to the robed man to receive 400  koins for proving your loyalty.

Opponent: Lin Kuei Warriors

To the west in G-8 and F-8 you will find three Lin Kuei warriors practising their kombat skills. If you punch them, they will challenge you to a fight.

Scenario:

Spar with a member of the Lin Kuei. During these matches you will fight against Sub-Zero. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 400 random koins. Your second and third fight will only reward you 100 random koins each.

After completing the previous side mission, face west and observe the large rock next to the bare tree. Behind this rock in F-8 between 6pm and 9pm you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin RM (unlocks Sub-Zero’s Alt Costume).

Now head north toward F-6 where you will find a chest containing a key for koffin RE (unlocks Mileena’s Alt Bio).

If you’re using a GameCube, head west toward the waterfall in E-7. Here you will find a gold chest containing a key for koffin OJ (unlocks Goro’s Alt Bio).

Again if you’re using a GameCube, travel west to the Temple of the Order in C-8. Travel up the ramp on the northern side of the temple and follow the pathway around to find a gold chest containing a key for koffin PD (unlocks Goro’s Alt Costume).

Now, head back toward Bo’ Rai Cho’s house in C-4. He asked you before to help him find his Warrior’s Medallion. Approach Bo’ Rai Cho and speak with him. Cancel the prompt to repeat training, and he will be more than delighted to see that you have found his medallion. Although he didn’t promise a reward of any kind, he is generous and gives you 600  koins as thanks.

Discover why Bo’ Rai Cho refuses to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament

From Bo’ Rai Cho’s house, head south to find two women standing outside a hut near a river in C-5. They say they are curious as to why Bo’ Rai Cho has never participated in a Mortal Kombat tournament considering he is such a great warrior. They ask you to find out for them.

Solution:

Return to Bo’ Rai Cho’s house and speak with him. He will tell you that he cannot participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament because he is originally from Outworld, and if he were to win the tournament the victory would be given to Outworld. Return to the women who will give you 400  koins as a way of apologising for doubting such a great warrior.

Locate a curative agent to aid the old man

Travel west-southwest to a small community of houses in A-6. Outside a straw hut you will find an old man. A group of bandits have attacked him, and he requires some kyra root to create a salve so that he may heal. He says it is south of his current location.

Solution:

Head southeast to a bunch of trees in B-8 where you will find some Kyra Root in between two trees. Take it back to the man who will reward you with 400  koins.

Head south toward the green aura. This will trigger a short cutscene in which Shujinko ponders where he is to meet the Lin Kuei. Head west into the trees. As you approach the rocks you will see a Lin Kuei ninja standing close to the opening of a cave. Upon speaking to him, Shujinko provides the password to prove his identity. The Lin Kuei warrior then warns Shujinko of the impending threat of Red Dragon on this sacred item, and that Shujinko is to take the item back to the Lin Kuei temple while the rest of the Lin Kuei distract the Red Dragon.

Enter the cave and collect the item in the green aura. This is the Earthrealm Kamidogu, one of six Kamidogu you will collect throughout your quest.

Leave the cave and head east toward the Lin Kuei temple. On your way you will be interrupted by Damashi who reminds Shujinko that his loyalties lie with the Elder Gods, not the Lin Kuei. He is to take the Kamidogu and head toward the portal.

Head northeast from your current location toward the pergola in G-4 to find a gold chest containing a key for koffin TR (unlocks Kenshi Puzzle Fighter) between 7am and 3pm.

Now, travel to the portal at H-3. Shujinko will raise the Kamidogu high, thus activating it. He will then enter the portal and be transported to the Nexus, a place constructed by the Elder Gods to aid their champion in transporting between the realms. Damashi will instruct Shujinko to place the Kamidogu on the altar, and to do this with all Kamidogu he retrieves. This will open the portal to the next realm.

Enter the red portal and prepare to enter the Netherrealm.
