Konquest Part 8: Earthrealm

Shujinko will emerge from the portal in familiar territory.

As with Outworld, there are many side missions and tasks that can now be completed.

Seek out the purpose of the great stone circle that lies to the east

Earlier in F-3 we spoke with a member of the United Nations task force who was interested in the strange stone formation to the east.

Solution:

Now that we know that the stone formation to the east is a portal we can answer his query. Speak to the man who is cynical about your claims. He says he will have to investigate further and rewards you with 600  koins for your information.

Head south toward the nearby aura in G-4 where you will find Kenshi practising kombat in a gazebo. Shujinko’s curiosity leads him to ask Kenshi if he covers his eyes because he is blind. Kenshi says yes, and explains that he was blinded by the treachery of the sorcerer Shang Tsung. He had promised to guide Kenshi to the location of a powerful sword entombed with the souls of his ancestors, but Shang Tsung consumed the souls and the experience left him blinded. Kenshi still managed to acquire the sword, which aids him in kombat. His blindness has taught him to make use of his other senses. Kenshi tells Shujinko that his main goal is to impose revenge upon Shang Tsung, and if Shujinko can provide him with any information as to his whereabouts he will reward him with training. He tells you he will continue searching in the north, and asks you to search in the southwest.

Relay Smoke’s message to Sub-Zero in Earthrealm

On your first visit to Outworld, you found Smoke in a cave. He recognised you as a member of the Lin Kuei, and asked that you relay a message to Sub-Zero for him. Now that we are in Earthrealm, we can complete this task.

Solution:

From Kenshi’s location, head south to the Lin Kuei Temple in G-8 where you will find Sub-Zero standing on his own. Speak with Sub-Zero and cancel the prompt to repeat training to relay the message from Smoke. He will find the information in the note most valuable and award you 500  koins for your services to the Lin Kuei.

From the Lin Kuei Temple, head northwest toward the green aura. You will find Nightwolf standing between two withered trees. Once you approach him, he asks Shujinko to leave these sacred grounds, as he can sense an evil taint about him that will defile the sanctity of these lands. Shujinko suspects the corruption Nightwolf can sense is a result of his travels to the Netherrealm. Nightwolf offers to purge Shujinko of his corrupt soul, however this will take many years. Shujinko hesitates, then agrees, leading to a training session.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 50 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 75 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 100 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 125 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 150 random koins.

Mission completed! You will now receive a koin reward of 200 random koins.

Shujinko will have trained for many years with Nightwolf before you regain control of him again. During this time, Nightwolf taught Shujinko about the spirit of the warrior, and expanded his consciousness and awareness. Although evil will still befall Shujinko, Nightwolf has given him the ability to control it.

After your training with Nightwolf, he wishes you good luck on your quest and tells you that you are always welcome on the lands of his forefathers.

Gain membership in the White Lotus Society

Earlier you spoke with Master Shen and Wen The Elder, who told you that the fate of Earthrealm depended on who they chose as their next champion to compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Wen asked you to return to him when you were sure that you had learnt enough.

Solution:

Head northeast and cross the zig-zag bridge, then speak to Wen who will be standing outside his hut directly in front of you. He tells you that although you trained hard over many years, the White Lotus could not afford to wait any longer for your return and so they appointed Liu Kang as their champion. Wen then offers Shujinko another side mission.

Locate and defeat these strange ‘beast men’ for the White Lotus

Wen tells you that although you cannot represent Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat tournament, you can still aid in the protection of Earthrealm from foreign dangers. He then tells you of ‘beast men’ that have invaded Earthrealm, and asks that you dispatch them.

Solution:

Head east across the zig-zag toward F-4. Outside the temple you will see a number of Tarkatan warriors. Approach them to initiate a battle against Baraka in which only your weapon will do damage. When you successfully defeat Baraka in two rounds, you will receive a reward of 400 random koins. The defeat of Baraka will scare off the remaining Tarkatan vermin. Return to Wen who tells you of your worth to the White Lotus, and asks you to find out why these Tarkata were sent to Earthrealm as you continue your travels.

Head west toward the green aura in B-4 where you will find a man dressed in red standing in a small village. Upon speaking to him, he asks you if you know any experienced fighters that would be interested in participating in his competition. He then introduces himself as Shang Tsung. Shujinko lets his feelings be known, saying that ever since he was a small boy he had dreamed of ridding his tyranny from Earthrealm. Shang Tsung says that in order for Shujinko to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament he needs to prove that he is worthy of competing. You will now need to defeat Shang Tsung to prove your kombat skill. When you defeat him in two rounds, you will receive 400 random koins. Once the battle is over, Shang Tsung says that you are worthy of competing in the Mortal Kombat tournament and asks that you return to your acquaintance Kenshi and inform him that he is most welcome to compete to exact his revenge. Shang Tsung then disappears from sight in a puff of smoke.

Head northeast to the aura nearby to find Kenshi. He tells you that it has been many years since you last met, and that he has still been unable to locate Shang Tsung. Shujinko tells Kenshi that he has found him, and that he knew Kenshi was looking for him. This explains why Kenshi could never find him — Shang Tsung was always one step ahead. Kenshi will now, as promised, train you to do battle without the use of your eyes.

After your training with Kenshi, he will tell you that it is now time for him to leave for Shang Tsung’s island in the Lost Sea and compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament so that he may finally exact revenge on his nemesis. Shujinko says that he has dreamt of defeating Shang Tsung since he was young, and that Kenshi must wait his turn. Kenshi then runs off toward the beach.

Follow Kenshi to trigger a conversation with Damashi. He tells Shujinko that he senses something different about him. Shujinko tells Damashi that he has undergone a spiritual cleansing and is reaping the benefits of his ability to contain the evil within his soul. Damashi then tells you that your cleansing is unfortunate, as the small taint on your soul was the very thing that gave you access to the more sinister realms. He says you may cleanse your soul once your quest is completed, but until then you will need to regain the impurities you lost. He suggests you return to the Netherrealm. Shujinko asks Damashi about the Mortal Kombat tournament, to which he replies the defeat of Shang Tsung will have to wait until his quest to find the six Kamidogu is complete.

Once Damashi recedes, travel east to G-3 where you will find Raiden guarding the entrance to the portal. He says that the portal is not for use by mortals, and that he must secure it so that foreign dangers cannot enter. Shujinko introduces himself as the champion of the Elder Gods and says that he was the one who opened the portal. Raiden doubts him, saying that such a warrior would have the ability of ten kombatants and be able to fight with their eyes closed. You will now need to prove to Raiden that you are the Elder Gods’ champion. When you successfully defeat him in two rounds you will receive 400 random koins.

After the fight Raiden apologises for doubting Shujinko’s abilities. He tells you that if the Elder Gods have unleashed a champion, they must be concerned that the end of the realms is near. He then says that he will look over the proceedings at the Mortal Kombat tournament while Shujinko follows the orders of the Elder Gods and returns to the Netherrealm.

Once Raiden disappears, step into the portal nearby. Once you are transported to the Nexus, step into the red portal to re-enter the Netherrealm.
