Year 2 for Mortal Kombat 1 has been officially announced via an hour long panel held at San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
Subtitled “Khaos Reigns,” the new expansion will feature additional story content and pick up in a world poisoned by chaos and anarchy thanks to Havik. Kombat Pack 2 has also been announced, and will include Noob Saibot, Sektor and Cyrax (both of whom are now female), as well as guest characters Ghostface, Conan and T-1000.
As widely expected, Animalities also make a triumphant return to the series for the first time since their inception in 1995’s Mortal Kombat 3. Rather than kombatants morphing into colourful stylised animals, Animalities in Mortal Kombat 1 will see fighters turn into hyper-realistic animals, and from what we’ve seen these finishers in particular are both incredibly creative and savage.
Kombat Pack 2 will not be made available as a separate purchase, meaning players who wish to access its six new kombatants must fork out for the full Khaos Reigns expansion. Additionally, Noob Saibot, Sektor and Cyrax will all be made available upon release, with the three guest characters of Ghostface, Conan and T-1000 coming at a later date.
Finally, the Khaos Reigns expansion will include four new skins for those who pre-order, including “Wedding Scorpion,” “Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Sub-Zero,” “Empress Mileena” and “Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Noob Saibot.” It is due to launch on September 24.
