After experiencing a number of delays due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Mortal Kombat’s 2021 feature film reboot is set to drop in Australian cinemas on April 24, with the United States of America seeing a simultaneous release in cinemas and on HBO Max on April 23.
Warner Bros. announced the delay in order to prevent cannibalising ticket sales of its other big budget blockbuster release Godzilla vs. Kong, which has already made over $121 million at the international box office.
Mortal Kombat stars Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Chin Han as Shang Tsung and Sisi Stringer as Mileena.
