With three of the Kombat Pack’s six kombatants now available, fans have started to look beyond Spawn’s distant March 2020 release date.
Sales numbers have proven that there is still plenty of life left in Mortal Kombat 11, which has officially become 2019’s best-selling fighting game in the U.S. up to this point. While some would argue that Mileena fans have been the loudest, there are still many players out there wanting to see their favourite kombatant shown some love, including Fujin, Reiko and Havik.
Mortal Kombat X had two seasons of DLC, and we’re convinced that Mortal Kombat 11 will have the same. While this title’s drawn out release schedule is frustrating to most, in reality it is giving NetherRealm Studios the time they need to release content that is incredibly polished. Considering the substantial size of the Mortal Kombat universe (and the fact that half of the Kombat Pack is made up of guest characters) there is still so much potential for the future of this title.
While every season of DLC brings along with it a host of false rumours, one that is beginning to gain traction is the inclusion of Fujin in Kombat Pack 2. This rumour became even more credible after supposed data mining found audio files of multiple announcers bellowing “Fujin Wins.”
Similarly, further files were discovered of the announcers saying both “Dead Pool” and “Soul Chamber,” lending credence to the addition of at least two classic arenas. While the Soul Chamber hasn’t made an appearance in the franchise since Mortal Kombat (2011), the Dead Pool is briefly seen in Mortal Kombat 11’s Story mode, during which Liu Kang and Raiden do battle. The arena seems hugely detailed for a scene that lasts mere seconds; if the rumours turn out to be true we can’t wait!
Finally, data related to Friendships has also been discovered since the latest Terminator patch, although this could be an intentional troll on the part of the developers. After all, text displayed in the Terminator’s Fatal Blow displays folder structures referencing the likes of “KP2,” “Meat” and “Mokap.”
Could these leaks and rumours be true? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
