Following more in-depth looks at both Shao Kahn and Raiden earlier this week, NetherRealm Studios’ Creative Director Ed Boon has today unveiled what will become the official box art for Mortal Kombat 11 via his Twitter and Instagram accounts.
The new artwork shows off a newly designed Scorpion ready to pounce with the katana used in the official announcement trailer strapped to his side.
In fact, so far every render has depicted kombatants holding some form of weapon: Shao Kahn with his wrath hammer and Raiden with a staff. Could we see the potential reintroduction of weapon-based kombat in Mortal Kombat 11? Only time will tell.
Mortal Kombat 11 is set for worldwide release on April 23, and will be available at launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
