The Russian edition of monthly mens magazine MAXIM have this evening unveiled a new Mortal Kombat X trailer that focuses on the franchise’s most prominent Shaolin heroes, Liu Kang and Kung Lao.
Newcomer Kung Jin is also showcased, but the real mystery lies in the former warriors’ new allegiance to the Netherrealm.
Previously unconfirmed, Liu Kang can be seen in a somewhat delusional form, brainwashed into helping Shinnok and his Netherrealm forces of evil. Seething with rage after Raiden’s actions during the events of Mortal Kombat (2011), the video ends with the thunder god having his oesophagus ripped out and stuffed into his mouth before collapsing in shock.
Mortal Kombat X will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC when it launches on April 14, 2015. In addition, it will be available for both iOS and Android devices in April.
